R Alexander presents The Art of Spain, a group exhibition of notable Spanish artists. On view will be works by artists including Ramon Pujol, Jesus Navarro, Marc Esteve, and Rosana Sitcha, all of whom offer unique interpretations of Spanish scenes. The show will be on display at R Alexander from July 11th to August 26th, 2016.

Ramón Pujol, a native or Olot, Spain, admires the styles of many different artists like Cezanne, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec, and especially Monet and Manet. His main influence, although, is nature. The colors, changes in light, luminosity and opacity inspire him to depict amazing light reflections on water. Initially, Pujol insisted on the use of the palette knife. Gradually the palette knife gave way to the systematic use of brushes. With this change his paintings began to reveal a deep understanding and interpretation of depth, light and atmosphere.

Marc Esteve was born in Alcoy (Alicante) Spain in 1971.  He began his studies locally at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios.  In 1994 he left his hometown to reside by the sea – his inspiration for achieving the Mediterranean light that is showcased in his works. In 1997, Esteve attended the Universidad de Bellas Artes in Altea (Spain).  In 2001, after completing his studies on the university level, Esteve returned to his hometown where he now resides. He continues to draw his inspiration from the movement and the light of the sea, but now includes local muses to create well-rounded, hyper-realistic works of art.

Rosana Sitcha was in born in Cartagena (south-east of Spain), on 8th January 1981. She was awarded a Fine Arts degree by San Carlos Faculty at the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 2005. She is specialised in drawing and painting and has completed training courses with prestigious painters such as Antonio López, Eloy Morales and Cristobal Gabarrón. She has worked as a painter since she finished her degree, focusing her work on urban landscape and female portraits, both represented from a very personal perspective.
