The bright, expressive paintings of Paloma Hinojosa reach a total harmony between beauty and art. Prioritizing sensation over form, the works offer an interpretation of authentic freedom. Whether depicting lively beaches, French hotels in winter snow, or the bustling sidewalk cafes of her native Madrid, Hinojosa reminds us that her goal is not to simply recreate, but rather to convey the emotions of an environment.

Born in Madrid, Spain, Paloma Hinojosa has been painting ever since she was a little girl. Painting became more serious for her from the age of 12, but this self-taught artist never had vocational training. She did go to the Escuela de Artes y Oficios (School of Art and Trade), but did not study Fine Art. In fact, after finishing her studies, she starting working at IBM. As she became more involved in her painting, she changed her job and worked only in the morning so she could spend more time painting. Today, you will find Hinojosa every day in her studio in Madrid, which in her opinion is the “best city to live in.” She is married with two grown children, and hopes to be a grandmother some day.

The paintings of Hinojosa make her a true pioneer of Neo-Impressionism, and she uses vibrant colors to transmit her thoughts and feelings which are at times difficult to express into words. She defines her work as spontaneous, never knowing what she is going to paint, and at times it comes out on its own. She admits to being strongly influenced by music, and notes classical and opera as examples. Paloma Hinojosa’s lyrical, romantic, and harmonious paintings easily draw the spectator into a mystical and beautiful world. Hinojosa has participated in over 20 private and 50 collective exhibitions all over the world since 1971. Some of the locations where her work has been exhibited
include: throughout Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Bilbao, San Sebastian, Toledo, San Sebastián, Sevilla), France (Paris), and the US.
